Yearly Archives: 2011

My husband totally outdid me this year for Christmas. No ands, ifs, or buts about it. Looks what’s about to be hanging in our home.

It’s a colossal topographic wall map from Schoolhouse Electric and I’m in love. Kyle said he saw it and a holiday surprise was born. It hid in his closet for weeks and made its grand appearance on Christmas morning. How did I get so lucky? When we get enough man power over here to hang this puppy, it will go right above our couch in the living room like so….

Those pictures have always been too small on that wall anyway, and I can’t think of a more perfect excuse to find them a new home. And speaking of Schoolhouse Electric, if you haven’t had a chance, you should check them out here. They are a local Portland company doing BIG things. You will fall in love with their stuff – it’s a guarantee.

More holiday photos to come this week! And, if we get our act together, I’m hoping I can show you our new piece up on the wall soon too…

Christmas Bells Are Ringing

The holidays are really here! Why do they come and and go so fast? I’m trying to soak in all the goodness and magic of the season, but time with family and friends is never enough. The calories on the other hand, are plenty:).

My hope is that Christmas brings you peace in your heart and in your home.

presents under the tree

Bask in the joy of the season and may you be reminded that goodness and beauty are all around us. Merry Christmas, sweet friends!

December Pinterest Favorites

It’s hard to believe it’s time for another round of Pinterest favorites. It’s a good thing Pinterst is never lacking goodies. So. Much. Good. Stuff.

Usually, my Pinterest favorites are outta this world expensive, but today, nearly every item below is reasonably-priced.

To source these items, they are all pinned on my Pinterest boards, which you can see here.

Countdown to Christmas is officially on! Three days…

In the Kitchen: John + Caprial

Instead of another holiday party or gift exchange, the lovely ladies of hi, friend design and I decided to switch things up a bit. To celebrate the holidays and a successful 2011, we signed up for a cooking class. We drank champagne. We ate like kings. And we didn’t have to do the dishes. It was a wonderful morning…

And did I mention we brought the boys?

What did we feast on?

Our menu:

Smoked Paprika Shrimp Dip with Baked Pita

Crab Benedict with Spicy Hollandaise

Traditional Hash Browns

Roasted Spiced Carrots

Beignets with Ginger Glaze and Crispy Hazelnuts

And yes, it was delicious.
