February Pinterest Favorites

It’s a good thing there’s one more day in February this year, because I almost forgot to do my monthly Pinterest post! Whew. A few of my besties joined Pinterest this month, and it was so fun to show them the ins-and-outs of this lovely site. They sat in awe of all the pretty photos while I showed them why “pinning” rules. I also put them under strict orders to not pin while their wallet is close by – not good for the bank account…

After looking at my selections, clearly we’re in the middle of winter here because my goodies are lacking some color. For sources and more info on the above items, check out my Pinterest boards here.

Happy hump day!

This + That

For whatever reason, I’ve been all over the map lately. Life is chaotic, which equals a messy brain. And because this blog seems to somewhat tell the story of my life, this post is going to be  all over the place. Here are a few random updates from me…

I’ve been saving my pennies for awhile now, and I was finally able to purchase the lens I’ve been coveting. It came in the mail last week and as you can tell, I’m really excited about it. Who knew small packages were so darn spendy?!

The only downfall of buying a second lens is that I have one more thing I’m afraid of breaking and/or losing. And I still need to figure out how to use it. I bought this particular lens because its great for shooting interiors, so If I’m in this business, it’s a must to have a lens like this. And yes, it’s another thing I’m able to check off my 30 before 30 list.

A recent addition to our home is this striped rug from Crate & Barrel. It’s the perfect color for our kitchen and really warms up the space. I loved our old yellow and white striped rugs, but they were getting quite dirty, and it was time for something new. The great thing about these rugs is that they come in many different sizes and colors, and they are really reasonably-priced too. If only I could keep it clean…

In other news, one of my besties from San Fran made the trip up to Portland this weekend and it was a great excuse to eat out at some great Portland restaurants. Cafe Nell (veggie eggs benedict, yes please!) and Nuvrei were on our hit list….they didn’t dissapoint.

Finally, if you are a bobby-pin-wearing gal like myself (brushing my hair is overrated) then check out these little guys. Aren’t they darling? Maybe I have been living under a rock but I just discovered these this weekend. I am in love and have already picked up a few packs. For whatever reason, I had to share these little gems with you.

See, I told you I was all over the map today. Hope you enjoyed my ramblings:).

House Guests! Young House Love

Yes, you read the headline correctly. The wonderful and talented duo John and Sherry Petersik from Young House Love were actually in Portland, at our humble abode. I had to snap a few pics so I could believe it myself…

Who would’ve thought? Never in a million years did I ever think the most famous blogging couple would be standing in my kitchen. Nope, never. Here are the deets…

Last Thursday, after John and Sherry spoke at the Portland Home and Garden Show, they popped in for a little house crashing visit. From the moment I opened the door, I was in awe of their professionalism, home decor smarts, and their warmth and kindness.

Sherry played Art Director and John played Photographer and the house crashing session began. Sherry and I walked from room to room and we chatted about everything from babies to our matching wedding rings to their newly finished book. Of course, home decor was in the mix too, but it was refreshing how easy it was to chat about everything under the sun. I pretty much monopolized Sherry’s time and John spent most of the visit hunched in random corners trying to get a few decent shots of our bungalow. Can you spot John in this photo:)?

It’s no secret why John and Sherry have hundreds of thousands of online followers. They have this blogging thing locked down, and to top it off, they are genuinely amazing people. It was a true treat to play hostess and I’m so honored they took time outta their whirlwind Portland trip to stop by!

As for when our home will be featured on Young House Love, it will probably be a few weeks or so. I will certainly let you all know when it’s our day in the sun and we grace the cover of YHL.

As for this week on the blog, it’s TGIDIYFriday time and I have a few other goodies to show you as well. Cheers to a happy week!
