About Restored Style

Restored Style was born out of my sincere love and respect for design and style. Serving as a home décor and design online resource, Restored Style features DIY home renovation projects, vibrant paint colors and fabrics, brilliantly restored furniture, fun house items, great deals, transformed spaces and inspiration for all design styles.

About Me – Kirsten Nieman

I am a true, blue Oregonian and adore nearly everything about the Pacific Northwest, including the rain. With a Journalism and Communications degree, I’ve spent 5 years working in the PR/Marketing realm, helping companies and people launch products of all sorts. Clearly, I am not a designer by trade. I’ve spent my entire professional life listening to other people’s dreams and I finally decided it was due time I went after my own. I believe the things we really want to do are the things that scare us the most. I’ve finally blocked out those censoring voices and listened to my heart. It’s barking like a pack of junkyard dogs and Restored Style is the result of a faint hope that has slowly matured into a true product.

In short, this website is an excuse for me to do what I love. I am that girl who HAS to stop at every garage sale in sight, scour every department store sale for a steal, and sees potential in every old frame, mirror and piece of furniture at the dump. My wish for this blog is that my creativity will be pushed to new heights as renovating, restoring and decorating a home is a hybrid of art and discovery.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that I’m extremely lucky to have a husband that is an amazing teammate when it comes to painting, sanding, gardening and everything else in between. Kyle puts up with all of my garage sale finds and crazy ideas and most of all, he believes that you should do what you love, making Restored Style a no-brainer for me in his book.

Lastly, here’s a little bit more about me, personally…

Things I love (in no particular order):  reading, writing, ponytails, the outdoors, spending time with my husband Kyle, running, being organized, yoga, baggy sweat pants, the library, basketball, soccer, long coffee dates with good friends, my wonderful family, exploring new cities, paint colors and pretty fabrics, farmer’s markets, our aging bungalow, books, being an Auntie, getting letters in the mail, a good workout, gardening, happy hours, my pals (they are like sisters to me), weekend getaways, deep conversations about life, trying new recipes, sleeping in on the weekends, girls night out, and the beautiful state of Oregon in general.
