Are you looking for local, affordable art, with a good cause thrown in the mix? Meet The 100 Show, debuting this Thursday in the Wieden+Kennedy gallery space.

In short, Wieden+Kennedy is curating and hosting a unique First Thursday event - The 100 Show - featuring (and offering for purchase at $100 a piece) hundreds of original works of art from local and worldwide artists, photographers, illustrators, painters and more. Never before have so many award-winning and recognized artists been exhibited together in Portland. Lucky us.

Here’s the back story: W+K asked hundreds of artists to submit a 10” x  10” piece of art with no restrictions on medium. The art will be on display in the W+K gallery space beginning February 2 and available for $100 each. Fifty dollars of each sale will be donated to MercyCorps and $50 will go back to the artist. Whatttta deal. Here’s a tiny snapshot of all the lovely pieces on sale tomorrow…

W+K is expecting to have between 500-600 pieces of art in total. Beyond the February 2 opening night, any remaining works will be on display at W+K and available for purchase during the workday through February 24th. For all you out-of-towners unable to attend the show, don’t fret! W+K will have an online site with the remaining work on display and available for order on Friday, Feb. 3 here.

The only question I have is…why hasn’t someone thought of this before? It’s genuis. I guess that’s why W+K gets paid the big bucks. They are infamous for coming up with brilliant, yet simple ideas and executing them perfectly. I think they’ve done it again. See you there, folks!
