Dining Room Addition – Metal Cafe Chairs
Kyle and I have had our eyes on galvanized metal chairs for months now. Photos like these kept popping up and I couldn’t help but think they’d go perfectly with our new farmhouse table.
I’m happy to report that we finally bit the bullet and ordered four metal chairs for our dining room. Yes! With that said, I did some serious research on price and quality before we purchased these chairs, and here’s my quick report on what I found…
Lyle side chair from Crate & Barrel – $199.00
1934 Dining Chair from Sundance – $245.00
Tolix Cafe chair from Pottery Barn – $199.00
Redsmith Dining Chair from Anthropologie – $198.00
And then, here’s the chairs we actually purchased. They are from Industry West and were $121.50 each. Score.
The chairs are called Marais A Side Chair and are by far the most economical choice. I absolutely feel we are getting a great quality chair for a great price. Industry West carries these chairs in gunmetal, galvanized, black, yellow, red, blue, white and green – lots of options! The chairs are set to be delivered in 3 weeks…so we play the waiting game and hope the chairs look as good as we envision:)!

Great choice and I can’t believe you found them for such an awesome price!!
Love these! They are going to look amazing with your table!
Eeeeek! So exciting!!!
Yay! They’ll look great!!
I LOVE metal chairs and farmhouse tables! So cool. Great choice!
Thanks so much for sharing – I’ve been looking for these at a lower price point forever – Can you let me how comfortable these chairs are? I’m thinking about ordering some, but we’re big “sit around the dining room table” people and I’m just wondering if they’d be comfortable for that. Thanks again!
Hi there! I am new to your blog. Happened to Google metal chairs + farmhouse table and it took me here. I am LOVING your site. Would you be so kind as to give us an update on the chairs? Are they comfortable? Are you happy with them? I am thinking of purchasing these chairs for my farmhouse table that my husband and I recently made. Thanks so much!!!
Hi Maria! Thanks so much for your note! The chairs are set to be delivered on Monday, Feb 28th. I’ll be sure to post my review on them ASAP:).
I’m in love with this look, that’s how I came across your blog. They have great copies of these chairs at overstock, they only Come in black, white and red. I’m really looking for the silver. I think I’m going to get them in white and spray paint them. They are only $170 for 4!!!!! Crazy

How are the chairs holding up? Iam thinking of buying from Industry West because they cost half as much as Crate and Barrel, but I noticed the C&B have a reinforced back. Does that matter?
Curious to know if you ended up with these chairs and if so, how do you like them? I am considering them and would love some feedback.
Hi Julie! We did end up keeping the chairs, and I really like them! They are classic and durable!
Hi Kirsten. My husband and I are wanting to order these chairs and we’re glad to find your website. You said you kept the chairs but never commented on their comfort. Comfort is key for us so can you tell me what you think about them in regards to comfort? Could you enjoy a couple hours of sitting over a nice dinner and conversation with guests?
I would love to follow up on Jennifer Lambert’s question. I have been obsessing over these chairs for months. I haven’t pulled the trigger because I am concerned about comfort.Look forward to hearing your response.
Hi gals! I love the look of the chairs as well, and they actually aren’t too uncomfortable. With that said, they obviously aren’t as comfy as a plush cushion chair, but for what they are, they are dandy:).
WANT these chairs, but the price has gone up quite a bit. Did you use a coupon?
Thanks so much!
Amber
They are great! Bummer they have gone up in price, as I didn’t use a coupon.
Did you get these in Gun Metal or Galvanized. I can’t decide which color to go with.
We got galvanized, but I love both colors!
Hi there. If you like these chairs you should check out Designform Furnishings. They have a Facebook page and a website. They carry the same chairs as Industry West but also have many more styles and color options available.
Hi there! I am also looking for similar chairs – would you recommend these? Also, do you have any updated dining room pics up on the site? Thanks!
Man, I actually found the same kind at $50 ea on the overstock.com.

Hi there, I am thinking of getting these chairs but can’t decide between galvanized or gunmetal? Which do you think would match our stainless steel appliances and brushed nickel light fixtures better? Thanks, Angie
I think either! We couldn’t decide either, but we went with galvanized:).
Hi again, I know it’s a lot to ask but would you be able to send me a picture or one in your house just to get a look at the finish in a natural light (or up against your appliances). It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!! Angie
Hi Angie! I would be happy to do so, but because of our move, our chairs are in storage! I will take a few photos when we finally move:).
Hi,
I recently ordered Restoration Hardware’s version of these and was sorely disappointed with what I received. Rust spots, they don’t stack, and the feet are plastic rather than rubber and some of them arrived already broken off or about to be. I am returning them and considering industry west’s – apparently now pottery barn no longer has tolix in a metal finish. Anyway, were you happy with the quality? Are the feet rubber?
Do they stack?
Thanks
Hi Elizabeth!
The chairs are great. They do stack and they have held up very well. Overall, we are happy customers!
