Basement Reveal Video

Drumroll please. At last! The basement is revealed. It certainly isn’t finished, but it looks much more like a room than it did many months ago. The walls are painted, the carpet has been laid, the creepy spiders have been smashed, and we’ve got an extra room on our hands.

Just so you didn’t forget how ugly this room was to begin with, here are a few photos.

And here’s the before video from last January…

And finally, the AFTER video!

Clearly, we still have some work to do, but three cheers for progress! A few things annoy me about the video, particularly the TV cords, and unstyled shelves, but no biggie.

Have a happy short week, friends…holiday weeks are the best. EVER.

Taking photos in the basement is hard

And that’s the truth. The grey and dark skies outside don’t help either. Ugh. I need to rent a flash for the mighty Nikon to really do the basement justice, because it’s undergone quite the makeover these past few months. I am so, so close to calling this lovely room finished. For now, behold a few crappy iPhone photos.

This weekend our new TV stand made its way downstairs and I somewhat styled the shelves. I do love the basket we recently picked up at Crate & Barrel. It’s big, rustic, and heavy. We’ll have it forever. The rest of the goodies are just from around the house – nothing special. And those wires….they must go too. Soon.

I am excited to give you guys a little video tour of the space – I don’t even recognize it:).

Basement Pillows

This past weekend I did a little sewing, and I’m happy to report I only sewed one pillow inside out. The rest are fairly put together. But don’t look too close! The pillows are for our basement – here’s a quick shot of the fabric I ordered from Premier Prints for this little makeover.

premier prints fabric

The light blue stripe fabric is for the ottoman, which I have yet to recover. The rest of the fabric is for pillows, and here’s a few photos of the finished pillows.

The green pillows were created with two different fabrics. I thought I’d switch it up and try something new.

As for the rest of the basement, I’m still on the hunt for a TV console and again, I still need to sew a cover for the ottoman.

I guess our mantra for our basement makeover is…slow and steady wins the race!
