Cheers to Friday, friends!
One of my best garage sale finds this summer has been hiding in the closet for the last few months. You see, I bought a Banana Republic winter coat last June at a neighborhood sale for $10.00. Score. I did feel a little funny purchasing an item that I wouldn’t use for months, but the fit was perfect, the cut was classic, and I’d knew I’d use it all winter long. And, I must admit, I have a coat/fleece fetish. Coats are important in the Pacific Northwest, or at least that’s what I tell myself when I buy another jacket:).
A few weeks ago, when I dusted off my summer purchase, I decided it needed a button upgrade, or rather, a little bling. I ended up picking up six one-inch gold buttons at JoAnn’s and I was hopeful this little upgrade would really spiff up the jacket.

Again, nothing was wrong with the black buttons, but I had my heart stuck on gold.

And I’m not one for modeling, so here’s a few photos of me sporting the “upgraded” coat last weekend.

The gold buttons certainly pop a bit more than the black. Success!
Before I sign off for the week, I wanted to tell all you PDXers about a wonderful event Rejuvenation is hosting tomorrow. It’s the Holiday Handcrafted Fair (because the best gifts are handmade and from local artisans). It’s from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Portland’s flagship Rejuvenation store. Ten percent of artisan and store proceeds go to p:ear, Portland’s premier mentor service for homeless youth.

Here’s a handful of participating artists:
I’ll be there first thing in the morning doing a little early Christmas shopping – hope to see you there!
