10 inches

Morning! Today, we’re switching gears and talking about hair. I promise not to bore you and I’ll keep this short and sweet.

Remember awhile ago when I mentioned my 30 before 30 list? Well, I have yet to share the full list with you, but one thing that made its way on there was donating 10 inches of my hair to Locks of Love.

I am happy to say, I did it! Last week, I visited my lovely and adorable stylist Kelly Meakins, and she not only snipped 10 plus inches of my hair off, she gave me a nice little cut and color. The result is quite a transformation…

I’m still getting used to my short hair, but I am super pumped that I was able to donate to such a wonderful non-profit during this time of year. I certainly had cold feet before the big snip, but Kelly is amazing and I knew she wouldn’t let me walk out of the salon with less than perfect hair.

Here’s my ponytail, in all her glory…kinda gross, actually.

Also, this cut was near and dear to my heart because cancer has personally affected my family this year and it felt good to do something to fight back. Take that, cancer!

Tomorrow, we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled programming of home decor and pretty things, I promise:).

P.S. If anyone’s looking for a lovely stylist in PDX, I highly recommend Kelly Meakins at Bella Pearl Salon. Love her.

Happy Holidays

I spent last weekend compiling and addressing our holiday cards…

And now they are all signed, sealed and delivered. BUT. My holiday card list would not be complete without sending you guys some love too.

Special thanks to hi, friend design for the beautiful cards and cheers to a wonderful holiday season!

2011 Resolutions

Something that truly puzzles me everyday is why I love to create and craft so much. It’s like something found its way into my heart and it’s never going to leave. I stumbled upon this quote yesterday, and it really resonated with me. Thank you Heather from olive & a for posting this!

I know these are a little late, but here are my 2011 goals for the blog – I hope to take Restored Style to new heights this year. I feel like I am somewhat hesitant to make resolutions, because once it’s down on paper, there’s no running from it. Your resolutions are staring at you in the face, and you can’t turn your back. Am I wondering how I’m going to make the time for my resolutions? Yes. Do they scare me? Yes. Do I have self doubt that I can get the job done? Absolutely. But Restored Style brings me an incredible amount of joy, and why wouldn’t I want more joy in my life? With all that said, here are my 2011 goals for  Restored Style…

1.) I have been talking about this since November, but there’s a new video component on it’s way. I still haven’t lost those 5 pounds, so you might all have to turn away for the first few blogisodes, but I think this new feature will make my DIY’s come to life.

2.) More content from you! Send me your projects…I want to show them off!

3.) More guest bloggers on Restored Style. I want to introduce you to some of my favorite bloggers.

4.) Finish my incomplete projects. This resolution is Kyle’s idea. He knows first-hand how many projects I start and don’t finish.

5.) Go outside my comfort zone….no more neutral colors for me.

6.) Bond with a few local bloggers. Let’s get coffee and get to know each other!

7.) Shop locally – there are some fabulous stores in Portland, and when I can, I’d like to spend my money at local stores.

8.) Learn. Learn more. And more. I want to be a little sponge and become a better sewer, crafter, tiler, DIYer and practically everything else in between.

As for my personal resolutions, they are fairly basic. But important. I want to eat healthy, exercise often, think positively, not succumb to stress, say no when it’s appropriate, volunteer, spend plenty of time with family and friends, and learn to always be comfortable in my own skin.

Whew. I already feel like this month is flying by. It will be Valentine’s Day before we know it!
